Yes. It costs $42.50 to cover the NIAA per-sport fee (1 sport), official’s insurance and a criminal background check. There is a one-time initial registration fee of $15, annual dues of $35 and a 6% game fee assessment. Uniforms must also be purchased.
All SNOA officials are certified by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA).
Officials are eligible to officiate in leagues comprised of NIAA 1A-5A high schools; officials may also officiate in various youth leagues in the area.
All SNOA officials must sign up for an Arbiter account at www.arbitersports.com in order to receive assignments.
Yes. We have mandatory training sessions that prepare us for the sports that we officiate. There is an NFHS test in order to be considered for postseason officiating.
Yes. SNOA provides sports officials for high school sports in Panaca, Pahrump, Needles (CA), Beaver Dam (AZ) and Overton just to name a few. Officials receive travel mileage at the IRS mileage rate when traveling to officiate at rural schools.
